This has been one heck of day with all these Solange updates . The very outspoken Solange Knowles was recently featured in Vibe Magazine and had alot to say.
Vibe compairs Solange to Janet Jackson:
“I met Janet Jackson a long time ago, and I felt like she really made it a point to have a moment with me,” Solange says. Solange, with perhaps the help of advice from Miss Jackson, remains a touch amused by the notion of sibling rivalry. It’s true, Damita Jo and Solange share some similarities. Both have lived in the shadow of their universally beloved siblings. Both of their debuts were unmitigated bombs: Janet’s innocuous self- titled 1982 release (A&M) and Solange’s ultra-slick Solo Star (Columbia, 2003). And both assumed grown-ass-woman swagger for future efforts. “I’m not her and never will be,” Solange defiantly sings of you- know-whom on Sol-Angel’s psychedelic intro “God Given Name.” It effectively sets off her own personal Control (A&M, 1986). Musically, at least, Solange Piaget Knowles, 22, has more than done her part."
Solange on industry people's assumptions that her family paid her ex-husband $1 million dollars to marry her:
"There were industry people who believed we paid my husband $1 million dollars to marry me! That my family would be so nnarcissistic that they'd force me to get married? That felt the lowest of low."
Solange on people compairing her music to Amy Winehouse and Duffy's:
"I didn't make an album that sounds like Amy or even Duffy because they didn't create '60s soul music," she says. "I made a record that sounds like The Marvelettes or The Supremes."
I love Solo's personality she's so charismatic and open. She just draws you in and makes you want to know more about her. Solo looks fierce in these pics. I love the dress she is wearing which was designed by mama Tina. Read the entire articlebelow courtesy of Solange-K.net by clicking on the images to enlarge them. compaired
